A devastating fire on 8th June 2023 to Henderson Hall, an iconic grade 2 listed building, a former Newcastle University halls of residence accommodating many students including Rowan Atkinson & Bryan Ferry. There is an uncertain future to what will happen to the remainder of the building but hopefully something positive will rise from the ashes.

It is ironic to think that one of the two youths who committed the arson has passed his GCSEs and is studying at college. An ironic link to the history of the building!
