Rock Star

The choice of subject matter for the print was inspired by trips rockpooling with Jake, my grandson, searching for but never finding the elusive star fish.

Marine ecosystems are being impacted by both global warming and the increase of plastics in the ocean. Limpets, star fish, anemones, barnacles, mussels and seaweed are important to help ecosystems survive global warming. Losing these species can destabilise ecosystems. Seaweed cleans coastal waters by removing excess nutrients and absorbs carbon dioxide from the water protecting shelled animals from ocean acidification.
