Printing with Type

Printing with letters is called letterpress. Until computers were invented, this printing process was used widely to print books, newspapers, leaflets and other paper-based information. Today, letterpress is used mostly by artists to make artwork and by specialist individuals and businesses to print-to-order things like wedding invitations. Letterpress type is made of metal or wood, but you can make your own type to print from using polystyrene sheets.
